The Soul of Durango!

Hello everyone!

I am excited to start this blog about the local artists and community of Durango. I am incredibly lucky to live in an area that offers scenic drives, variety of outdoor activates, a historic downtown with numerous restaurants and shops, but the soul of Durango is definitely the thriving talented community of local artists and galleries. I find joy in being in the company of charming and talented individuals that give their time and passion to bring beauty forth in the world. I can not image how dull and drab our world would be without the efforts of local artists around the globe. They give us a new perspective and creative thinkers and makers provide our communities with joy, interaction, and inspiration.

I am committed to writing this blog each week to talk about local artists, galleries and happenings in the Durango area. Please reach out to me if you have a local event, you want discussed. I would love to hear about it and share it with all of Durango!

My first event that I would like to discuss with you is the Art Contest, The Butterfly Artist Collective is sponsoring. I celebrate all artists, and I want to encourage young artists between the age of 15-30 to take the plunge and join us in creating art. Caprice @Create Art and Tea has generously agreed to give all the contestests an oppurtunity to showcase their work March 28th. When I close my eye and imagine all the transformative images being produced by young and fresh artists, I want to run down to the gallery and feast my eyes on delicious colors, interesting shapes and thought-provoking ideas from the upcoming generation of budding artists. The winners will receice cash prizes, and other fun perks. If you are lucky enough to have a young artist in your world, please reach out to me for additional details. I can be reached at 832-969-0304 or Butterflyranchartists@gmail.com. I can smell my gamisol wafting in the air and it’s creating a desire to play in the studio, so I will sign off for now, but our Art Talk is just beginning. I look forward to hearing from you so please feel free to leave a commet, idea or suggestion. After all we are stronger together my fellow artists. Much Love!

Sincerely,

Velinda Gibbs
